Use room-by-room entries
For each repair, record the room, wall or ceiling, date and visible issue. Include photos and the written scope. Describe what you observed and what the professional documented. Avoid labeling every crack settlement or every stain a plumbing leak without evidence. A log is most useful when the next reader can distinguish facts from assumptions.
Keep finish information
Save texture descriptions, paint labels, sheen and available product details. Note the area repainted and whether a whole wall was included. Leftover paint identifies a product but does not guarantee a match. Retain manufacturer storage guidance with saved materials. Record any lighting or fixture changes that may affect how the surface looks when reviewed later.
Use the log when planning
Share relevant records with the next estimator, especially for recurring damage. Add access changes or lighting plans affecting work. Protect private information when sending documents and photos. A DuPont maintenance log is a planning aid; it does not replace material assessment, inspection or qualified findings about the building. Keep professional conclusions labeled with their source and date.
Keep these questions with your notes
- Label photos by room, surface and date.
- Save paint and texture information.
- Separate observations from findings.
This is general planning information, not a diagnosis, site assessment or hazardous-material work instruction.
